The iRegatta Watch stands out as a dedicated application designed specifically for regatta sailors, with particular emphasis on dinghy sailors who may not have instrumentation aboard their vessels. Optimized for the Apple Watch Ultra, this app ensures a reliable battery life that can support a full day of racing or training. While it is also compatible with other Apple Watch models, users should be aware that battery longevity may be restricted in those devices.

One noteworthy feature is its operation using the Action button, even when the Water Lock is activated, making it more functional in wet conditions.

Upon launching the app, users can swipe right to access the Settings view, where they can customize their race display and set the starting point for their countdown timer. A "Speed Warning" feature is also available, alerting users when they exceed a predefined speed limit—ideal for recognizing personal records or ensuring that their foiling vessel is ready for take-off.

A swipe to the left from the launch screen provides a summary view of the most recent sailing session, which is conveniently available until overwritten by the next outing.

To initiate a new sailing session, users simply tap the "Start Sailing" button, activating both workout tracking and GPS functionality. Depending on user preference, various metrics can be displayed:

• A lift indicator to show course changes over the last 10 seconds, potentially indicating shifts in wind direction
• COG (Course Over Ground)
• SOG (Speed Over Ground in knots)
• Maximum speed, along with the best 10-second average speed

Swiping right leads to the Control view, where users can end their session, engage Water Lock, or reset their maximum speed. Conversely, swiping left returns to the Start View, which allows users to start or pause the countdown and synchronize it to the nearest minute if necessary. In pause mode, users can reset the timer according to their settings.

For Apple Watch Ultra users, operation of the device is intuitive even with Water Lock enabled. In race view, pressing the Action button transports users back to Start View. Simultaneously pressing the Action and Home buttons directs them to Control View where they can utilize scrolling with the Digital Crown to navigate options and select preferences using the Action Button. The Start View has been designed to facilitate common scenarios during a starting sequence using primarily the Action button.

Users will find that during countdowns, the Action Button defaults to a Sync function once initiated. If paused, it transforms into a reset option which allows for quick adjustments without losing track of timing. Again, pressing Action plus Home will revert back to Race view.

When concluding a sailing session, participants receive an insightful summary which includes:

• Start time
• Total duration
• Maximum speed
• Best 10-second average speed
• Sailing distance
• Total energy expenditure
• Maximum heart rate
• Average heart rate

This comprehensive data is recorded as a workout in HealthKit, aiding users in achieving their activity goals. The summary encompasses vital statistics such as energy burned and heart rate metrics upon completion of each sailing session.
